Updates
Welcome back and welcome aboard!
In November 2023, the Coastal GasLink project achieved mechanical completion. This was a tremendous feat that was made possible by the 7,500+ people who dedicated over 55 million hours of work across the right-of-way. We were able to achieve this milestone with an incredible safety record from start to finish.
With construction complete, Coastal GasLink is now focused on final clean-up and reclamation activities into operations. We are excited to welcome you back and aboard as we continue to deliver on our extraordinary legacy of safety and respect for all people and the environment.

Health and Safety
We want to make sure your health and well-being is cared for every day – whether at home or on the work site.
STCKY and the Critical Risks
With all of the pipe installed and filled with gas, clean-up and reclamation work is ramping up – and so is the risk of critical safety incidents. Hazards don’t sleep just because construction is complete, and we must continue to hold safety as our number one priority.
We can significantly reduce the risk of a critical incident by better understanding the Stuff That Can Kill You (STCKY).

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the extraordinary legacy?
- Coastal GasLink is committed to creating an extraordinary legacy of safety and respect for communities and the environment.
- That means leaving the environment better than we found out, placing safety at the forefront of everything we do, and respecting our neighbours, including Indigenous and local communities.
- Our goal is to set a new standard for project delivery that will leave a legacy for Canadians for decades to come.
How did you select the critical risks?
- Safety is evolving and we can’t eliminate all risks. Everything comes with some level of risk and looking at a project as epic as Coastal GasLink we identified the activities that could present the most risk across the 670-kilometre right-of-way – and potentially fatal ones.
- From the completion of pipe installation we can shift our focus to other risks such as work over live lines.
- Keep these key risks top of mind every step you take, and together we can work to mitigate our critical risks.
What types of health and wellness services are available to me while staying in the lodges?
- Coastal GasLink’s medical service provider, International SOS (ISOS), is ready to help you kick-start and maintain your healthy lifestyle.
- The ISOS team is available to answer any questions you might have about your health and wellness, including mental health, heart health, good sleep habits, and more.
- You can reach out at any time to our on-site medics.
What do I do if I see something unsafe?
- If you see something unsafe, we encourage you to speak up and speak out. As the old saying goes, it is better to be safe than sorry.
- If you see an unsafe hazard on the worksite, or a colleague performing an activity that could hurt them, you can speak out if you feel it is safe to do
- You can also reach out to your safety coordinator in your section or work package toreport unsafe practices, or ask for support.
How can we make sure we are staying safe?
- While major construction is complete, any work site can pose safety risks so we need to remain vigilant and place safety as our number one value – your safety and that of your fellow workers.
- Continue to focus our attitudes and behaviour towards safety to ensure awareness about the most dangerous activities that are present and how we can significantly reduce the risk of a critical incident as we continue to strive towards zero incidents.
- If you have more specific safety questions or concerns, please reach out to your safety coordinator in your section or work package.
What is the timeline to complete clean-up and restoration work?
- This spring and summer present a critical window to complete final clean-up and implement important reinstatement activities before operations.
- Most post-construction reclamation work is expected to be complete in 2024, however Coastal GasLink will continue to monitor activities for any further reclamation work that may be required in 2025.
- Post-construction monitoring will continue throughout operations, and we will monitor the results of the reclamation program and adjust as required.
