When TransCanada began engaging with communities in northern B.C. three years ago, the Mayor of Vanderhoof, Gerry Thiessen made it clear that the Coastal GasLink pipeline project needed to support communities long-term. Through a recent letter of support to the Coastal GasLink team, Mayor Thiessen writes, “Coastal GasLink is already making significant contributions to our region. Local businesses are involved in their fieldwork, and the company is contributing to community organizations.”

With the project reaching important milestones including signing project agreements with six First Nations in B.C., progress on the project means a great deal to communities throughout the province.

“TransCanada and Coastal GasLink have shown a real willingness to listen and take input,” writes Mayor Thiessen. “We would like to see the Coastal GasLink pipeline project go forward so that our communities can show the world what we can build safely, reliably, while respecting the environment.”
