March construction update

Posted by Coastal GasLink

Our March Construction Update is now available. At a glance, 62% of the route was cleared by the end of February which also saw over 1,100 women and men working along the route during that month. With spring breakup around the corner, we expect a significantly slighter workforce to be onsite to perform critical tasks, such as ensuring environmental conditions are met, before resuming clearing and beginning pipe installation this summer. We’ll have smaller crews work along the 670 km route and ensuring that workers and nearby communities are safe through our COVID-19 protection measures. This includes having workers who are considered non-essential to working along the route at this time work from home instead. We are also continuing to work with provincial and local authorities on COVID-19 management. As construction activities change and the size of our teams fluctuate, we will continue to primarily employ B.C. workers, with 25 per cent of them coming from Indigenous communities.
